Meet the friendly staff at Companion Pet Clinic!

Jennifer Janitell, DVM

Jenny Janitell was raised on a farm in Eastern Montana, where she grew up working with her family on their wheat grain operation. She learned the value of hard work at an early age and continues to be thankful for such a valuable life lesson. She remembers her dad casually saying “pour it on,” as it meant give it your all and finish strong. Hard work was something not to be afraid of, as it built character and was such a humbling quality to have.

Becoming a veterinarian was an innate calling for Dr. Janitell. She appreciated the human animal bond, the livelihood and hardships ranchers faced, and the science behind medicine. All aspects of veterinary medicine were intriguing to Dr. Janitell, and she never strayed from her dream.  “There was never a plan B, so I knew I had to put forth the work and do all I could to achieve my life long goal,” she added.

Dr. Janitell attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, where she graduated with her Animal Science degree in the spring of 2006.  She stated, “Bozeman brings back wonderful memories of my college years. I was a cheerleader for MSU and loved getting to cheer on my fellow Bobcats. Go Cats!”

Dr. Janitell attended Washington State University for veterinary school and earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2010. After completing veterinary school, she moved to Fruitland, Idaho and joined Snake River Veterinary Center. There, she practiced as a mixed-animal veterinarian for over seven years. During this time, she bonded and built relationships with the community, her clients, and patients. “Idaho will always have a big piece of my heart. I was so lucky to find such an amazing practice and place to call home,” Dr. Janitell exclaimed.  While at Snake River Vet, Dr. Janitell was also part of a preceptorship program with Washington State University, where she mentored and advised senior veterinary students during their clinical year.

Dr. Janitell and her husband moved to Klamath Falls, in the fall of 2017 after her husband was promoted to a new position with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. She then joined Companion Pet Clinic in October, 2017. Dr. Janitell added, “I am very excited to be embarking on a new journey with a great veterinary team.”

Dr. Janitell’s professional interests include internal medicine, dermatology, abdominal ultrasound, and surgery. She is also a member of the AVMA and accredited with the USDA. Dr. Janitell loves bonding with clients and building trusting relationships with her patients. Partaking in the education process and mentoring future veterinarians is also something she values very much. She admitted, “Veterinary medicine is one of the most humbling and gratifying professions. I feel so fortunate that I get to do what I love and was able to make my dream a reality.”

Outside of work, Dr. Janitell enjoys spending time with her fur-babies, doing crossfit, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. She is a lover of all creatures, but may be a bit partial to dachshunds. Pidge, Jersey, Thomas, and Rose are a few of her favorites. Matteo, the Italian Spinoni, also has her heart.
